How to import BSB charts into Orux

I want to use nautical charts in my Android device.

I can convert the BSB files I have to PNG (or other graphical format)

I tried to use OruxMapsDesktop to do this but run into all kinds of problems and no useful Help.
For example, how do I input coordinates? What are the units? e.g., 41N 05.00' ? How do I distinguish
N/S and E/W?

There are pulldown menus on the Convertor page to the right of each coordinate, but they are greyed out (disabled).

When I try to fill in the destination directory it refuses to accept my directory unless the directory is empty.
I stumbled across this somewhere else on your web site, but it would be nice to let the user know what is happening.

You must use coordinates in decimal degree format (4.42432423344). W/S coordinates with negative value. Sorry, I thought there were warnings about this in the manual.

Those menus are only for 'grid coordinates'.

Hmmmmm, destination directory does not need to be empty (only with batch convertor).

If you have more problems, please discuss in the forum.

thanks for updating the user manual -- now I get XML files which make sense

Now I have a problem with the ANdroid app:

I never see the menu item to update the maps database, and as a result OruxMaps never uses the new
map file I download. When I try to select the new file, it complains that I need to update the database, but there is no menu item (as stated in the online manual) to do this.

I am running OruxMaps 1.8.5 on Android OS 1.5

You do not see this buttons in main screen (menu)?



If not, use Exit button, this will force an update next time you open OruxMaps. But it is very strange that you do not see update button!

You have to push Android 'menu' button to see these menus.
