Newbie needs help PLEASE!!!

I downloaded OruxMaps to my Driod X and went to the online maps. It is supposed to display the default Google Maps. It does not display a map. The GPS is on yet I don't see a map. What am I doing wrong? Please Help.

Click on the globe icon.....then New Map/offline.....and you'll see several choices for downloadable maps.

Only got one selection (world) to choose from. Picked world but cant zoom in to any detail. How tried under on-line and got several choice but none of them come up to a map when I click on them. I am trying with Google Maps but nothing.

Sorry--I meant "online"--"offline" are maps already residing on the device. What happens if you try loading OpenStreetMap Mapnik?

I have tried most of the 10 or so maps that are availabel and this is what I get What am doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suppose you have internet access working fine (test 'Maps' application).

yes the internet does work on the phone. How can I test the maps application.

Seems there is definitely a problem with the GPS. Maybe you have not turned on the GPS in oruxmaps (unter the first symbol on your pic) or the GPS-signal is too bad for a fix.
