HTC Magic with oruxmaps 1.4.0 can't open the maps

Hallo,
I converted a map with GoogleOzi and OruxMapsDesktop.
So I got this files:

-a directory 'rhoen'
- a file 'rhoen.otrk2.xml'
- a directory 'set'
- some files in this directory ending with '.omc2'

I copied anything to /sdcard/oruxmaps/mapfiles

But, when i try to open a map, the application just says: 'Karte wählen'
I can't see the card.

Any ideas???

Hi, Gisbert;

You must copy rhoen/ directory in oruxmaps/mapfiles/ sd directory; you do not need to create /sdcard/oruxmaps/mapfiles/ directory. /sdcard is sd root directory.

Did you see something similar like this picture, when you browse into your sd?



When you start first time OruxMaps, it ask you for permission to create /oruxmaps/mapfiles/ directory. If you answered "yes", this directory must exist in your sdcard.

If you still have problems, send me a screenshot with your file browser showing your sdcard structure.

Is there a limit to the map size in pixels or size?

Hi, Sigurd;

There is no limit;

Try this:

Go to Main OruxMaps Activity (first screen).

Push "Restart Maps" button in menu. When you get "Map Database OK" message, try to load again the map.

That worked like a charm!!!

One more thing:

I am encoding maps from region near Oslo Norway. This is in sone 32, however I have to use sone 33 with your desktop converter to get correct coordinates. Is that a fluke or is there something that I'm missing here?

Hmmm, not sure what it is the problem; perhaps left coordinates are in zone 32 and right coordinates are in zone 33. OruxMapsDesktops needs the same zone for both left and right coordinates.

Are you converting a Ozi .map file?
