Trying to publish to MapMyTracks - reporting an error

Hi,

I've just installed OruxMaps on my HTC Desire (running Gingerbread) and it seems brilliant...properly packed with features - it does a lot more than I need it to do for now but has plenty of options for future usage (I only use it to log the cycle I am doing so I can then upload it to MapMyTracks).

I was out today and tried to sync the ride activity with MapMyTracks. I selected the track and chose the 'Upload to MapMyTracks' option (after I set my username/password/activity and privacy in the Integration option under Settings). It starts to do something - asks me to choose the privacy and activity (which I thought would be selected from the Integration settings?), then when I hit 'Upload GPX' it reports ' Error with connection; canceling MapMyTracks interface!' It looks like it hasn't uploaded.

If I wait about 15 minutes and then check MapMyTracks, I have a public track with 'Misc.' as the activity - so something does gt loaded but it looks like none of my settings have been picked up (track should be private and set as Mountain Biking - but it isn't).

Has anyone else experienced this? The app appears to be working in every other way and I can email the saved .gpx file to my MapMyTrack dropbox but I was hoping not to have to do that.

It's a great piece of kit and I suspect I've not got the integration or something right.

The values in settings (private/public and activity) are for 'live tracking' mode. But I will try to use them for upload option in next versions.

I do not know why, but mapmytracks does not allow the same activity types when live tracking. They allow 'mountain bike' when living tracking, but not if you try to upload the track after. I have wrote them weeks ago, but no response.

And there are some problems if the track includes non ascii characters in description; solved with next beta; may be you want to test-->

Thanks for the reply...

None of my track names contain any non-ascii characters so don't think that is the problem (unless they don't like spaces)?

No, not tried latest beta...need to get braver to install it...probably some time this week, thanks.

Updated to latest version and it's now all working, thanks very much.
