Hi,

What a great piece of software - thanks for all your work.

Ideas that I would like:

1. When I open Oruxmaps I have to wait until it has found a GPS fix before I can start a tracklog. It would be nice to have an option to start up and start a new track log as soon as the application gets a fix. This would allow people to start up Oruxmaps, lock the screen, put the phone in our pocket and start walking/running/cycling, etc without having to wait for a fix.

2. When loading a route or track the red or blue line can sometimes cover up the map so you can't see what's underneath. An option to show semi-transparant lines or a "Show/Hide Tracks" button might be a useful option.

3. When adding a waypoint, is it possible to link to the phone's camera to take a photograph and then add that new photo to the waypoint rather than load an existing photo?

All in all, the best software I've found for my new phone!

Thanks, Alastair;

You can start track logging directly. OruxMaps will start logging with the first gps fix.

Hmm, I will study your suggestion. But You can select thickness of 1 pixel, for the tracks,...

Hi again,

Thanks for your comments.

1. Track logging - I was using the "Actual Location" option from the initial menu and having to wait. If I choose "Browse Maps" then it does look like I can do as you say and start a log as soon as it gets a signal. Thanks.

2. I was thinking of a line like you would get with a highlighter pen. However I have made my lines a bit thinner (2 pixels) and it is much better, thanks.

3. Thanks for the tip on adding new photos. However, I can't seem to get this to work. When I get to the gallery and press the Menu key, nothing happens. I'm using an HTC Hero with Android 1.5 but have just tried o a friend's later version of Android? I've also moved from the 2.2 version of Oruxmaps to the current beta and still can't see how/where to do this! Sorry, have I missed something obvious?

Cheers,

Alastair

Hi, Alastair;

With htc dream, android 1.5, and android 1.6, when you are in the 'select picture' view, and you use menu button, you have an option to take a new photo; not sure if this works with other phones (but it should work).
